A Little Ray of Giving 2017

By Heather Mellican

This Christmas, Ray White will continue its popular tradition of giving with the return of a little Ray of Giving.

The Christmas campaign will see Ray White Reservoir & Preston partner with the Salvation Army to help disadvantaged children who may need a little extra light in their festive season.

The Ray White team are calling on the local community to embrace the giving season and dig deep for children who need it most.

“This is the third year that we’ve run a little Ray of giving and we want 2017 to be our biggest year yet.  Last year we had an overwhelming support from our local community with over 250 gifts being dropped at our office. When you see our Christmas tree go up, we urge everyone who is able to bring in a gift in for those families who are less fortunate,” said principal, Arthur Mitsinikos.

The gift drive is a way to help put a smile on the face of children and families who may need some extra cheer at this time of year, and Arthur said it’s as simple as can be.

“All you need to do is wrap up your present and drop it under the tree into our office reception,” said Arthur.

Those who wish to donate a gift just need to inform the Ray White team if the gift is for a boy or girl, and nominate an age group.
“It’s a really simple way to put a smile on the face of a young child who might otherwise go without this Christmas,” said  John Catanzariti adding that just a small gift can make the biggest difference to families who are struggling at an expensive time of year.

Preston Salvation Army Major’s Brett & Sally Allchin, and Dora Solima, Manager of Preston Community Support Services are thrilled to be part of the campaign for the second year running.

“Christmas is the busiest time of year for the Salvos due to the increased financial pressure at this time with extra bills, upcoming back to school costs, special meals, and holiday activities for the children added on to everyday living expenses.  Support from the Community means we can provide gifts to those who would otherwise go without,” Dora said.

This year, Ray White will also have the support of multiple schools across both Reservoir & Preston getting involved in the campaign.

“It is so great to see so many of our school partners joining us this year to give back to the community. We are hoping that with this local support we will be able to collect even more gifts than last year,” Arthur said.

Ray White has run this initiative across Australia and New Zealand each December since 2012. Last year more than 300 offices across Australia and New Zealand helped raise 30,000 gifts for disadvantaged families this Christmas.

You can drop your gifts at Ray White Reservoir located at 286 Broadway, Reservoir & Ray White Preston at 363 High Street, Preston.
